அறத்திற்கே அன்புசார் பென்ப அறியார்
மறத்திற்கும் அஃதே துணை.
Stanza 76:
“Love helps only virtue”, say the fools:
But it also cures vice.

என்பி லதனை வெயில்போலக் காயுமே
அன்பி லதனை அறம்.

As boneless worms wither in the sun, so too
The loveless in a just world.

அன்பகத் தில்லா உயிர்வாழ்க்கை வன்பாற்கண்
வற்றல் மரந்தளிர்த் தற்று.

A loveless life is a withered tree that would fain
Sprout in a desert.

புறத்துறுப் பெல்லாம் எவன்செய்பு ம் யாக்கை
அகத்துறுப்பு அன்பி லவர்க்கு.

What good are outward features if they lack
Love, the inward sense?

பெறுமவற்றுள் யாமறிவது இல்லை அறிவறிந்த
மக்கட்பேறு அல்ல பிற.

We know no blessing better worth our while
Than intelligent children.

சிறுகை அளாவிய கூழ்.

Sweeter than neetar is a man’s food messed up
By his child’s small hands.

மக்கள்மெய் தீண்டல் உடற்கின்பம் மற்று அவர்
சொற்கேட்டல் இன்பம் செவிக்கு.

Sweet to the body is a child’s touch
And to the ear its words.
