Stanza 4
Never harmed are those who clasp the feet
Of the one beyond likes and hates.
Meaning:
To those who meditate the feet of god who is negated of desire or hatred, evil shall never come.
Transliteration
Ventudhal Ventaamai Ilaanati Serndhaarkku
Yaantum Itumpai Ila
குறள் 36:
அன்றறிவாம் என்னாது அறஞ்செய்க மற்றது
பொன்றுங்கால் பொன்றாத் துணை.
Stanza 36:
Defer not virtue, and you will find in her
The day you die an undying friend.
Meaning:
Do virtues without any delay. Those virtues will be
an undying companion to you at the day of your death.
அறத்தாறு இதுவென வேண்டா சிவிகை
பொறுத்தானோடு ஊர்ந்தான் இடை.
Why talk of virtues way? Only behold
The palaquin -bearer and the one who rides.
வீழ்நாள் படாஅமை நன்றாற்றின் அஃதொருவன்
வாழ்நாள் வழியடைக்கும் கல்.
Be good don’t waste a day; and so
Block the way to rebirth
அறத்தான் வருவதே இன்பம் மற் றெல்லாம்
புறத்த புகழும் இல.
Virtue alone is happiness; all else
Are without praise and fame.
செயற்பால தோரும் அறனே ஒருவற்கு
உயற்பால தோரும் பழி.
The thing to do in life is virtuous deed,
The thing to avoid vice.
