Of the virtues, mature and wise.
Meaning:
Let a king ponder well its value, and secure the friendship of men of virtue and of mature knowledge.

இலமென்றுவெஃகுதல்செய்யார்புலம்வென்ற
புன்மையில்காட்சியவர்.

Their senses conquered, the clear-eyed
Will mot covet through want?

உற்றநோய் நீக்கி உறாஅமை முற்காக்கும்
பெற்றியார்ப் பேணிக் கொளல்.

Seek them who can remove present ills
And prevent those to come.
Meaning:
Let ( a kind) procure and kindly care for the men who can overcome the difficulties when they occur, and guard again then before they happen.

அஃகி அகன்ற அறிவென்னாம் யார்மாட்டும்

What use is a mind which is wide and sharp
If it is driven headlong by greed?
