Defer not virtue, and you will find in her
The day you die an undying friend.
Meaning:
Do virtues without any delay. Those virtues will be
an undying companion to you at the day of your death.

எல்லா உயிருந் தொழும்.

All living things will fold their hands and bow
To one who refuses meat?

Why talk of virtues way? Only behold

தமக்குரியஒழுக்கத்தில்வாழ்ந்து, ஆசைகளைஅறுத்து, உயர்ந்தமேன்மக்களின்பெருமையே, சிறந்தனவற்றுள்சிறந்ததுஎன்றுநூல்கள்சொல்கின்றன.
Stanza:
All symbols praise the excellence
Of disciplined self-renunciation.
Explanation:
The end and aim of all treatise are to extol beyond all other excellence, the greatness of those who, while abiding in the rule of conduct peculiar to their state, have abandoned all desire.
Transliteration:
Ozhukathu neethar perumai vizhupathu
Vendum panuval thunivu.
